Downtown Cary Park is hosting a Halloween Double Feature on October 24 from 6:00–10:00 PM at the Great Lawn Pavilion as part of Downtown Scary Park. The evening begins with Disney's The Haunted Mansion (PG), followed by the much creepier horror classic Poltergeist (PG), better suited for older audiences. Family-friendly haunted house activities are also planned before the screenings, with food trucks on-site. Bring your blankets, cushions, and lawn chairs for a cozy night of chills.
Not sponsored—we just prefer our haunted houses on a movie screen. (Just so you know: Sponsored content in our newsletter is always marked with “*”).

October 17–18 — Cat Videos Take Over the IMAX Screen
Cat videos are usually something you watch on your phone, but this weekend, they're getting the big-screen treatment at Marbles IMAX in downtown Raleigh.
CatVideoFest returns on Saturday, October 17, and Sunday, October 18, at 2 PM, bringing a collection of funny, adorable, and occasionally ridiculous feline videos to the theater. The family-friendly film event celebrates the internet's enduring fascination with cats, only this time with an audience watching together.
There's also a local rescue connection. A portion of ticket proceeds will benefit Alley Cats and Angels, a nonprofit dedicated to rescuing cats and kittens. Representatives from the organization will be at the theater both days with adoptable cats and catnip toys available for purchase.
So, in addition to watching cats perform their usual antics on an enormous screen, visitors will have the opportunity to meet a few real ones who are looking for homes.
