Remodeling Your Wake County Home?

The average major kitchen remodel costs about $80,000. You probably don't want to pick the contractor by Googling “remodeler near me.”

Tell us what you're planning and your budget. We'll connect you with up to three reputable Raleigh remodelers who may be a good fit.

Free. Local. No endless contractor hunt.

Trick-or-Eat takes over Downtown Garner on October 10 from 5:00–9:00 PM, combining three community events into one big evening. Trick-or-treat along Main Street, choose dinner from a dozen food trucks, browse local vendors, and meet Garner police officers. The Touch-a-Truck area lets kids climb aboard fire trucks, police vehicles, and heavy machinery, while adults can grab a drink in the Social District. It’s all free and family-friendly.

October 9 & 23 — Storytime in the Garden

Storytime gets a little more adventurous when the books are paired with a walk through the garden.

On Fridays, October 9 and 23, from 10 AM to 11 AM, the J.C. Raulston Arboretum will host Garden Storytime, an outdoor program designed for families with preschool-aged children.

The morning begins at the Bobby G. Wilder Visitor Center before families head into the garden with Children’s Program staff and volunteers. Along the way, kids can see what’s happening in the garden, listen to a couple of children’s books with a garden theme, and create a nature-inspired craft to take home.

Caregivers stay with their children and are encouraged to join in, so it’s very much a family activity rather than a drop-off program. Come dressed for the weather; if it rains, the activities will move to a sheltered location.

I’m where laws are shaped, but I’m not grand or old,
A many-sided landmark with a shape that’s bold.
The governor works elsewhere; don’t follow that trail—
Seek the house where North Carolina’s lawmakers prevail.
