Apex Latino Arts Festival returns September 26 from 3:00–7:00 PM at Apex Town Campus. The afternoon includes country booths, arts and crafts, food trucks, and a vendor marketplace. On stage, catch Orquesta K’che, join a salsa lesson with Annie Velez, watch the 5:30 PM flag parade, and finish with Mambo Dinamico Dance Co + Sabrosura. The whole festival is free and open to everyone.

September 20 — An Instrument Petting Zoo at Dix Park

Kids are usually told to be careful around musical instruments. This event takes the opposite approach: pick them up, try them out, and make some noise.

On September 20 from 2 PM to 4 PM, Gibson Play Plaza at Dorothea Dix Park will host a free Instrument Petting Zoo, an interactive music experience designed for all ages and complete beginners.

The afternoon starts with performances by two youth quartets before opening things up for everyone to participate. Visitors can experiment with easy-to-use instruments including boomwhackers, bucket band percussion, hand percussion, and kazoos, with no musical experience required.

There’s an art component, too. Attendees can paint old instruments as part of a sensory activity, adding another hands-on option for kids who want to create something beyond music.

For curious kids, it’s a rare chance to encounter instruments without the usual “please don’t touch” rule.

Dock 1053 is one of those places you stumble upon and wonder how you didn’t know about it sooner. It’s this old A&P warehouse from the '50s that’s been transformed into a creative hub…think coworking spaces, local eats, and craft brews all under one roof. You can grab a sandwich at Wilson’s Eatery, sip on a beer from Lynnwood Brewing, or just hang out with your dog in the courtyard. It’s got that perfect mix of history and hip, without trying too hard.
