Tappin’ the Gourd returns to Tap Yard on October 17 from 2:00–8:00 PM for its fourth annual Pumpkin Extravaganza. The fall festival brings $6 pumpkin-themed craft beers from North Carolina breweries, seasonal cocktails, food trucks, a pumpkin-carving contest, and a pumpkin pie-eating competition. There’ll also be arcade and yard games for the family, plus live music from Counterclockwise String Band from 6:00–9:00 PM. Best of all, admission is free.

Haunted History Meets a Cocktail Crawl in Downtown Raleigh

Ghost stories and cocktails come together on Spirits & Spirits, a 1.5-hour tour that explores the spookier side of downtown Raleigh from the seat of an oversized plush scooter.

Guests ride through downtown on Rydables, stopping at select local bars for handcrafted cocktails along the way. Between stops, a guide shares stories connected to Raleigh’s haunted history, from colonial-era mysteries to Civil War legends and local spots where spirits are said to linger.

It’s essentially a ghost tour, cocktail crawl, and very unusual mode of transportation rolled into one. Rather than walking between haunted locations, you’ll glide through downtown streets and alleyways aboard your Rydable before stopping for the next story—or drink.

The tour is designed for everything from date nights to group outings and offers a decidedly different way to explore Raleigh after dark.

Near downtown’s west side, I’m easily seen.
An old orphanage once occupied my ground,
Now gardens and playing fields spread all around.
