Rawleigh Oyster Fest: Smoke & Shuck returns to Raleigh Iron Works on November 7 from 1:00–5:00 PM, serving up freshly shucked oysters, smoky barbecue, local beer, wine, and spirits, plus live music. Proceeds benefit Frankie Lemmon School, and with the previous two festivals selling out, it's worth planning ahead. Not sponsored—we just think oysters and barbecue make a mighty fine pairing. (Just so you know: Sponsored content in our newsletter is always marked with “*”).

Through November 1 — Carolina Ballet Brings Dracula to the Stage
There's still time to catch a darker side of ballet before Halloween weekend is over. Carolina Ballet's world premiere of Dracula is wrapping up its run at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts in downtown Raleigh.
Running through Sunday, November 1, this two-act production explores the tragic story behind one of literature's most famous monsters.
The story follows a devoted husband who leaves his new bride to fight in the name of the church. When false news of his death reaches home, the consequences are devastating. He returns to find his wife gone, renounces his faith, and begins his transformation into Dracula.
Rather than focusing solely on supernatural horror, the ballet explores love, grief, betrayal, and the events that turn a man into a legend.
Featuring Carolina Ballet's full company and a new musical score, the production combines gothic storytelling with classical dance.
Remaining performances include 7:30 PM evening shows and 2 PM matinees.
