NC Indian and South Asian Film Festival Celebrates 10 Years of Cinema 🎬

A day of powerful stories, global perspectives, and movie magic at The Cary Theater.

Film buffs, this one’s for you. The NC Indian and South Asian Film Festival returns June 6 to The Cary Theater, celebrating a decade of bringing acclaimed films and filmmakers to North Carolina. From 12:30 PM to 7 PM, attendees can enjoy a curated lineup of South Asian cinema spanning drama, culture, and storytelling from around the world—all for just $12.

Curious what’s playing? Check out the full lineup of films and screening schedule before you go—you might discover your next favorite movie. With multiple screenings packed into one afternoon, planning ahead is half the fun.

Not sponsored—we're just suckers for a great film festival. (Just so you know: Sponsored content in our newsletter is always marked with “*”).

A Used Bookstore That’s Been Around Since 1975

Some bookstores feel curated for social media photos. Reader's Corner feels more like the kind of place where you wander in looking for one thing and leave an hour later holding three completely unrelated books and possibly a record you didn’t plan on buying.

The shop has been buying and selling used books, records, and CDs since 1975 and is one of the oldest surviving used bookstores in Raleigh. That alone makes it feel worth appreciating a little. Places like this tend to disappear quietly over time, and somehow Reader’s Corner is still here doing its thing.

It also feels increasingly rare to find a spot where books, music, and random discoveries all exist together under one roof without feeling overly polished. If you enjoy browsing more than shopping with a specific plan, this seems like an easy place to lose track of time.

Raleigh Hidden Gem:

Sola Coffee Cafe is this cozy spot in North Raleigh that's been around since 2012. It's family-owned, and you can really feel that personal touch when you walk in. They serve up locally roasted Counter Culture Coffee, and their cardamom latte is something special. Don't even get me started on their mini doughnuts—they're a must-try. It's just one of those places where you can relax, chat with friends, and feel at home.
