Looking for an easy way to spend a summer evening? Live After 5 returns on Thursday, July 16, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Moore Square with a performance by River Shook. Part of Downtown Raleigh's popular summer concert series, the event brings together live music, local food trucks, and a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere. Grab a lawn chair or blanket, bring a few friends, and enjoy one of downtown's favorite summer traditions.

July 9 — A Night Walk for People Who Like Bugs
Most visits to a garden happen during daylight hours. The JC Raulston Arboretum is offering a chance to see a completely different side of the landscape during After Dark: A Nocturnal Insect Walk on July 9 from 7:30 PM to 10 PM.
Led by local entomologist Bill Reynolds, the evening begins with a 30-minute indoor presentation covering some of the insects participants might encounter and the methods used to collect nocturnal species. After that, the group heads outside to explore the gardens using light traps and other collection tools in search of moths, beetles, and other insects that emerge after sunset.
It's the kind of event that reveals how much activity is happening in a garden long after most visitors have gone home. Participants are encouraged to bring a water bottle, a small flashlight, and be prepared to spend time outdoors in the dark.
