July 5 Independence Day Celebration at Sugg Farm: One More Night of Fireworks Fun

Stretch the holiday weekend with live music, food trucks, and a sky full of fireworks.

Not ready for the holiday weekend to end? Good news: you get an encore. The July 5 Independence Day Celebration at Sugg Farm runs from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM, with fireworks launching around 9:15 PM (weather permitting). Celebrate both America's 250th birthday and Holly Springs' 150th anniversary with live music, food trucks, games, local history displays, selfie stations, and limited-edition commemorative giveaways.

Bring lawn chairs, blankets, water, and even a picnic—just leave the alcohol at home. It's the perfect excuse to squeeze one more festive evening out of the long weekend.

The fireworks aren't sponsored... they're just naturally good at stealing the show. (Just so you know: Sponsored content in our newsletter is always marked with “*”).

Thursdays — Beer and Banjos in Durham

Some event names tell you almost everything you need to know. Durham Beer and Banjos is one of them.

Held every Thursday from 6 PM to 8 PM at Old Mill Farm, the free music series focuses on roots, bluegrass, Americana, and folk music. The setup is refreshingly straightforward: gather, listen to live music, and spend a couple of hours outdoors enjoying sounds that have been bringing people together for generations.

The genres featured tend to attract a mix of longtime fans and curious newcomers, which gives the series a broad appeal. And because it happens every week, there's less pressure to plan around a single date or worry about missing out if life gets busy.

For anyone who appreciates live music and a relaxed evening atmosphere, it's a simple idea that doesn't need much improvement.
