October 10–11 — Take the Train to a Pumpkin Patch

The Museum of Life and Science is putting a different spin on the traditional pumpkin patch this weekend — including a train ride home.

On October 10 and 11, the museum’s Pumpkin Patch Express invites families to pick and decorate a pumpkin, tackle a hay maze scavenger hunt, explore fall-themed science activities, and play games including mini pumpkin putt-putt, duck races, and bowling. Fresh popcorn is included, and the outing ends with a ride back to the station aboard the Ellerbe Creek Railway.

Tickets are $16 per person for most entry times, with discounted $13.50 tickets available for 2:30 PM, 3 PM, and 3:30 PM sessions. Children 2 and under attend the event free. Each ticketed guest can take home one pumpkin.

Keep in mind that museum admission is separate for non-members, and every person attending needs an event ticket.

Raleigh Hidden Gem:

Angie’s Restaurant is where Raleigh locals go for a no-frills, feel-good Southern breakfast. This spot serves up fluffy biscuits, perfect grits, and country ham that hits just right. The service? Like family. The portions? Generous. The vibe? Classic diner, with a side of sweet tea and hospitality. Just don’t sleep in too late…it’s a breakfast-and-lunch-only kind of place, and the regulars don’t play when it comes to getting their favorite booth.
