Through December 6 — Art Takes Over the Botanical Garden
A sculpture gallery doesn’t necessarily need walls. At the North Carolina Botanical Garden, the landscape itself becomes part of the exhibit.
The 38th Annual Sculpture in the Garden is now on display through December 6, bringing works by local artists into the garden’s curated outdoor spaces. Rather than viewing each piece against a traditional gallery backdrop, visitors can see the sculptures alongside the plants and landscapes of the Chapel Hill garden—and consider how the art and natural surroundings interact.
The exhibit has been an annual tradition for nearly four decades, making this year its 38th installment. There’s also plenty of time to catch it as the garden changes throughout the fall.
Visitors can explore the exhibition during regular garden hours, Tuesday through Sunday from 9 AM to 5 PM. It’s an easy way to combine an art outing with a walk outdoors before winter arrives.

The Country Doctor Museum is one of those hidden gems you almost don’t believe exists until you see it. It’s tucked away in this unassuming spot, but when you walk inside, it’s like stepping back in time. They’ve got these old medicine bottles, weird-looking doctor tools, and even a hand-cranked wheelchair that makes you grateful for modern medicine. It’s a little bit eerie, a lot fascinating, and one of those places that makes you appreciate how far we’ve come.
