October 16 & 18 — Slow Down with Forest Bathing at JC Raulston Arboretum
A walk through the woods can be relaxing on its own, but forest bathing takes the experience a little further by encouraging you to slow down and pay closer attention to the natural world.
On October 16 and 18, from 10 AM to 12 PM, JC Raulston Arboretum is offering guided forest bathing sessions led by certified Forest Therapy Guide Shawn Ramsey.
Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku, forest bathing involves moving slowly through nature while engaging your senses through guided mindfulness exercises. Rather than focusing on exercise or covering a certain distance, participants are encouraged to notice the sights, sounds, textures, and other details of their surroundings.
The two-hour experience explores the arboretum's natural areas, with activities designed to encourage relaxation, curiosity, and a greater sense of connection with nature.

Benny Capitale’s is that downtown Raleigh spot you stumble into once and never forget—mostly because the slice you ordered is roughly the size of your torso. It’s not fancy, it’s not fussy, but when it’s late and you need something solid, Benny’s delivers. The crust holds up, the cheese is generous, and the vibe is pure no-frills comfort.
