Consider this Bourbon 101, but with much better homework. Cocktails & Cuisine: Bourbon for Beginners comes to The Willard Rooftop on Sunday, August 30, from 2:00–3:30 PM. The $55 class walks guests through making three bourbon classics—the Boulevardier, Paper Plane, and Gold Rush—while exploring their history. Chef Eryn Reagan will also serve seasonal bites, all accompanied by those downtown Raleigh rooftop views.

More Than Lunch in Downtown Raleigh
Some restaurants measure success by the number of meals they serve. Carroll's Kitchen has another goal alongside that.
The Downtown Raleigh nonprofit restaurant serves fresh grab-and-go breakfast and lunch Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 2 PM, with a menu centered on homemade comfort food made from locally sourced ingredients. At the same time, it operates a Restorative Employment Model that provides supportive employment for women overcoming crisis.
Since opening in 2016, Carroll's Kitchen has graduated 42 women from the program, with 84% of participants successfully completing its culinary and stability curriculum. The restaurant also offers catering, but the day-to-day experience is much like stopping into any neighborhood lunch spot.
It's a reminder that sometimes grabbing breakfast or lunch can also support something happening behind the scenes. In this case, every meal helps fund a program focused on creating new opportunities for women rebuilding their lives.
