Moore Square is turning into a globe-trotting adventure on Saturday, May 30, as Around the World brings international food, live performances, music, shopping, and immersive cultural “neighborhoods” to downtown. The festival is designed to feel like you’re stepping into different corners of the world without ever leaving the park.
Expect everything from local vendors and global eats to cultural performances and plenty of opportunities to discover something new throughout the day. It runs from 11 AM to 7 PM, and yes, admission is completely free.
Not sponsored. Just seems like a good way to spend a Saturday. (Just so you know: Sponsored content in our newsletter is always marked with “*”).

June 5 — Food Trucks, Live Music, and an Outdoor Movie Downtown
Some Friday nights are better when there’s no real agenda beyond wandering around a park with a snack in your hand and seeing where the evening goes. That’s basically the vibe of First Friday Market and Movie Night at Moore Square on June 5.
The monthly downtown event brings together food trucks, a local market, and live music as part of Raleigh’s larger First Friday arts and culture celebration. Food trucks and the market run from 5–9 PM, with live music by Story Charlemagne starting at 5:30 PM. Then at 7:15 PM, the lawn turns into an outdoor movie setup with a screening of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022).
It feels like one of those low-pressure downtown nights where you can stay for 20 minutes or accidentally stay for three hours. Either way, probably worth bringing a blanket.

The Country Doctor Museum is one of those hidden gems you almost don’t believe exists until you see it. It’s tucked away in this unassuming spot, but when you walk inside, it’s like stepping back in time. They’ve got these old medicine bottles, weird-looking doctor tools, and even a hand-cranked wheelchair that makes you grateful for modern medicine. It’s a little bit eerie, a lot fascinating, and one of those places that makes you appreciate how far we’ve come.
