Looking for a low-key way to keep the holiday weekend going? America’s Cookout returns to Abbott’s Creek Community Center on Sunday, July 5, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Expect family-friendly games, activities, food, and opportunities to connect with local programs and services while meeting neighbors from across the community. It’s part celebration, part block party, and a great excuse to get out of the house before the leftovers disappear.

June 27 — A Free Concert and Coffeehouse Night in Durham
Not every live music venue is a bar or a concert hall. Sacred Grounds Coffeehouse in Durham offers something a little different.
On June 27, performer Elizabeth June will take the stage as part of the coffeehouse's ongoing music series. Doors open at 6:30 PM, and the music begins at 7:30 PM.
Sacred Grounds was created with the goal of providing a safe, clean, and peaceful place for people to enjoy coffee, music, games, and community. Everything is offered on a donation basis, from the music to the coffee and desserts, making the evening accessible to just about anyone.
There's something refreshingly simple about the setup: live music, a cup of coffee, and a place to spend an evening with other people who showed up for the same reason. Sometimes that's all an event really needs.
