November 6–21 — See JC Raulston Arboretum in a Whole New Light

JC Raulston Arboretum is beautiful during the day, but its annual Moonlight in the Garden event offers a chance to explore the gardens after dark, illuminated by an elaborate display of colorful lights.

The nighttime exhibition takes place on November 6–7, 13–14, and 20–21, transforming the arboretum's plant collections into a carefully lit landscape designed to highlight the gardens in unexpected ways.

Along with wandering the illuminated paths, visitors can enjoy live music, gather around fire pits, roast marshmallows, and sip hot apple cider. A rotating lineup of food trucks will also be on-site each evening, with food available for purchase.

Advance tickets cost $30 for general admission, $20 for arboretum members and college students, and $5 for children 12 and under. Tickets include the lighting exhibition, music, marshmallows, and cider. Advance tickets are sold for specific dates and entry times, with sales closing at 12 PM on each event day.

There's also a special ticketed Preview Night on Thursday, November 5, featuring dinner, desserts, beer, and wine. Regular event nights are alcohol-free.

The event is the arboretum's largest annual fundraiser, helping keep regular garden admission free throughout the year.
